Research Methods Training Program (CID): Twice Annually


The Clinical Investigations Department organizes a comprehensive eight-week course twice a year to provide trainees with a robust overview of research and the associated resources available at NMCSD.

The main topics discussed in this course are:

•             Introduction to Clinical Research & Research Funding

•             How to Critically Evaluate Scientific Data

•             Issues Concerning Human Subjects in Research: Ethics & Human Rights

•             Responsible Conduct of Research

•             Conducting a Scientific Literature Review

•             The Role of Biostatistics in Research

•             Protocol Development and New HIPAA Privacy Rule Requirements

•             Writing, Illustrating & Publishing Scientific Research

This program equips trainees with a thorough understanding of research fundamentals, like protocol development, ethical considerations, literature review, importance of biostatistics in research and the process of drafting, illustrating, and publishing scientific research. Reiterating key topics helps to reinforce the acquired knowledge and skills.
