Moderate sedation

Moderate sedation is commonly applied in numerous pulmonary procedures. All administration of moderate sedation requires direct supervision from the clinic staff, particularly a nurse or another qualified healthcare provider with patient monitoring skills. Before undergoing moderate sedation, it is compulsory for patients to undertake a physical examination and be assigned an ASA risk classification. Outpatients designated for conscious sedation must be accompanied by a guardian who will drive them home and assist them post-procedure.
